Members with a Shared Vision

Ensuring Vermonters' Rights are Protected

45 Years ago: The Association was formed to promote greater proficiency and effectiveness among its members in all phases and types of litigation, and to sponsor, support or oppose legislation to best serve the administration of justice and the cause of advocacy.

Today: The Vermont Association for Justice (VTAJ) works to promote a fair and effective civil justice system and protects the rights of those injured by the misconduct or negligence of others. We support the continuing education, professionalism, and legal practices of our attorney, paralegal, and other members.

Executive Director (open position)

Vermont Association for Justice

About Us

The Vermont Association for Justice (VTAJ) is the voice of Vermont's plaintiff lawyers. VTAJ is the group of attorneys who stand up for injured Vermonters and ensure access to justice. We are a passionate, member-driven organization committed to strengthening the civil justice system, advocating at the State House, and supporting the legal community across Vermont.

After years of dedicated leadership from our Executive Director, VTAJ is searching for a mission-driven leader to carry this work forward.

The Opportunity

This is a rare and rewarding opportunity to lead a close-knit statewide association at the intersection of law, advocacy, and community service. Tasks include building relationships with VTAJ members, working alongside lobbyists during the legislative session, and keeping the organization running with energy and purpose.

The Executive Director will work directly with the Board of Governors and the Executive Board, manage a meaningful portfolio of programs and events, and serve as a point of contact for an organization that genuinely makes a difference in Vermonter’s lives.

What You’ll Do

  • Handle day-to-day operations of VTAJ and support the Board in setting strategic direction.
  • Help coordinate the work of lobbyists during legislative sessions.
  • Help plan and execute legal education programs, seminars, and member events throughout the year.
  • Manage member communications, the VTAJ newsletter, website, and social presence.
  • Maintain relationships with national partners including AAJ and NATLE.
  • Oversee the Association's membership dues, budget, and finances in partnership with the Finance Committee.

What We’re Looking For

  • A leader who is energized by mission-driven work and genuinely cares about access to justice.
  • Experience in association management, nonprofit leadership, law, or advocacy projects
  • A strong communicator who is comfortable representing the organization.
  • An organized, self-directed individual who is capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with Vermont's legal or legislative landscape is a plus, but not required.

VTAJ - Rule of Law
The Vermont Association for Justice (VTAJ) joins the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the American Bar Association (ABA), the Vermont Bar Association (VBA), and other legal organizations nationwide in vigorously supporting and respecting the rule of law.
VTAJ works to safeguard rights, promote fairness, and strengthen access to civil justice. We are committed to a fair and impartial legal system that protects the rights and safety of all people.
VTAJ supports diverse opinions and perspectives, but above all, we all support the rule of law and the legal system, which is the bedrock of our system of government. As lawyers, we swore an oath to protect the law.
Courts play an integral role in upholding the rule of law, and the independence and safety of judges is paramount to an effective legal system.  Lawyers are also essential to maintaining the rule of law and should not be punished or threatened for advancing their clients’ interests in court.
VTAJ calls upon all branches of our government to adhere to the rule of law and our Constitution and respect the legal processes and procedures of our judicial system.
Sincerely,

Kristin Ross, Esq.
Immediate Past President
